BECOMING A MEMBER
WELCOME
We’re delighted you’re considering joining our group of passionate fox chasers! The Fort Defiance Hounds welcomes anyone with an interest in preserving our sport and countryside. For guests riding at hunting events, the Secretary will collect a capping fee. Those who would qualify for Junior status within the household of a guest or proposed member will not be required to pay a capping fee.
MEMBERSHIP TIERS

Hunt Status members can join in all mounted and unmounted hunts, social events, and activities without having to pay single-day capping fees. You may pay your dues monthly, quarterly or yearly. There is no charge for qualifying junior members of the household.

A family status membership will allow up to two adult members of a household to join in all mounted and unmounted hunts, social events, and activities without having to pay single-day capping fees. Dues may be paid monthly, quarterly or annually.

Junior members under the age of 21 may participate in all hunts, social events, and activities without paying individual capping fees. A person under the age of twenty-one (21) may be eligible to become a junior member after having ridden with FDH on at least three hunts. Junior members who continue to be full-time students shall be eligible to maintain their Junior membership status until age twenty-four (24). Juniors are not allowed to vote at FDH membership meetings.

Social members may attend any hunt activity but must pay a capping fee to hunt on horseback. Social members may not vote at FDH membership meetings.

HOW TO APPLY
Those seeking membership must notify the Secretary of their wish to join after they have ridden in at least two or three hunts. Prospective members on non-hunt status may apply after attending two scheduled social events as a guest.
The Secretary will add requests for membership to the agenda of the next meeting for approval from the Membership. Any capping fees paid by the proposed member from the point at which they notify the Secretary of their intention to join will be applied to the new member’s annual dues.
